Hybrid Golf Clubs an Overnight (10 Years in the Making) Sensation
Everyone is offering their version of hybrid golf clubs, when in reality they have been around in one form or other since the mid to late 90's. You might remember them as iron/woods or wood/irons depending which info-mercial you watched. The lofts typically were from 13 deg. to about 26 deg. depending on the manufacturer. The TaylorMade Rescue club comes to mind as one of the first on the market. Now you can get fitted for a complete set of hybrids all the way through sand wedge (SW). I have personally built several sets of hybrid irons with excellent results. I like to call the hybrid golf clubs "no brainers" they are very easy to hit and get the ball up in the air, and a great club to learn this game we call golf. Several years ago there was a small component company that was offering some quality components, that could be custom fitted to you, you know which company I am talking about, they are the latest rage and must have clubs in the hybrid arena. Sadly however they have gone into mass production, and their pricing reflects that. We as custom club fitters carried that small manufacturer's products, but we had a hard time selling their wares. Why? Because the over-hyped mainstream golfing community had never heard of them. Ahhhh, but then someone walks into the cameras view and hits a good shot. All of the sudden these are the greatest things since the invention of sliced bologna. Sad but true, we golfers are a fickle sort, it does not take much to revert back to the "one-size-fits-all" mentality. So go and buy it, play with it, when the novelty wears off and reality sets in that you are not playing any better - take it to your custom club fitter. He or she will fix it for you. Why? Because that is what we do, so save yourself some coins - come to see me first you might even save enough to add two new hybrids clubs to your arsenal. Do your homework and search out a custom fitter for your hybrid golf clubs, you will get a quality product at a fraction of the cost.
